Summary
This hero was made for the r/dotaconcept in hero universe contest in March 2021.

Roles: Carry (3/3), Disabler (2/3), Nuker (2/3), Support (1/3), Complexity (3/3).

Vanessa the Heretic for Hire is a ranged intelligence hard carry based off the card in Artifact. Vanessa is designed to scale extremely well with items. She can copy enemy heroes items using void thief to use for herself. Every item in Vanessas possesion is vastly improved thanks to her ultimate ability, Overcharged Artificer which improve the attributes these items provide in addition to reducing the cooldown on active items. Glyph of Confusion is a useful spell which acts as a strong area of denial spell, stunning enemies who walk into the glyph. This allows Vanessa to manipulate the battlefield to her advantage. Finally Vanessa can ultilise a demonic summon, chaos sprite to terrorise her enemies.

Vanessa would be a hard hero to play because she requires quick thinking and excellent item knowledge and usage. Void Thief is a strong freestyle skill and you will require awareness of all enemy items and the intelligence to utilise the enemies items to your advantage. Void thief is a banish which can be detrimental to allies if used incorrectly and Glyph of confusion is an unreliable stun.

Lore
Vanessa has an unbound curiousity for analysing and experimenting with rare artifacts. This curiousity for rare and invaluable items was sparked at a young age, through folklore tales of mythical weapons and beatiful jewelry adorn by powerful figures throughout history. Legendary mages such as rubick and arficiers such as Daedalus inspired her to begin tinkering and experimenting with echanments and materials. However much to the dismay of her peers, Vanessas curiosity extended to tales of cursed artifacts. She saw the untapped magical energy of these cursed artifacts, which she wanted to reforge in her ideal vision. Vanessas peers disapproved of her views, branding her the heretic of the backwards town of Tanuka. Vanessa knew she would make no progress surrounded by closed minded people; leading her to discover the scholars of Ultimyr academy.

Here she studied the ancient tomes on knowledge for years; all under the guiding hand of Demnok Lannik, the Warlock. Surrounded by like minded individuals they made outstanding discoveries on legendary weapons and enchaments used by the demon lords of the 7 planes. However Vanessa quickly discovered she needs large amount of resources, in addition to special equipment to forge legendary items. Additionally she still desired to increase her knowledge of artifacts which arent of demonic origin. Warlock reccomended she travels the city of Eeeping Rose, a region considered paridise to free minded mages, warlocks and artificiers. Weeping rose culture promotes freedom of magical experimentation, due to the lack of magical restrictions in that region.

Vanessa travelled to the wonderous city of weeping rose, continuing her research at the University of Weeping Rose. Funding her craft of artificing with part time mercenary work using the alias heretic. Her unorthodox method of mercanary work gained a fearsome reputuation, with the citizens of Weeping Rose refering to Vanessa as the Heretic for hire. Vanessa is now working on a clear goal, to become a legendary artifier, akin to legendary figures she was enamoured with as a child.
