Valeska

Bloody Widow

Valeska is an extremely resilient melee vampire hero whose effectiveness increases as she loses health. However, she is more vulnerable in early game than heroes like Huskar, as all of her abilities waste a lot of health, and the only way for her to heal effectively is to deal damage with her sword.

Her design and part of her story are inspired by the Darkest Dungeon's Duchess class mod.

Lore

Few people know that the infamous Count Vladimir had a particular weakness for female beauty. It was his passion that saved the life of the daughter of an aristocrat who tried to rebel against the power of the vampire. Vladimir made Valeska his bride, one of many, sealing her beauty for the ages with a bloody kiss.

Valeska stood out against the other courtesans, obliging and voluptuous, for her rebelliousness and unsociable nature. But it was not only in character that lay the difference. While other brides entertained themselves with singing, drawing, dancing and intrigue, Valeska chose the noble art of swordsmanship as her path. Her zeal verged on obsession, her technique was not distinguished by elegance, yet her unbridled determination and disregard for her own safety eventually made her perhaps the most dangerous duelist in the earldom.

Vladimir's derisive disdain for his bride's infatuation was at first replaced by professional respect and even sympathy, but in time the undivided feeling and the shenanigans of the courtesans transformed respect into fear, and only a dim, twisted semblance of love continued to simmer in his gloomy mind.

During one of the scores, in retaliation for another refusal, the count ordered Valeska to be chained in an enchanted dress of monstrous construction: iron spikes and hooks pointed inward, wounding and maiming at any sudden movement, absorbing blood for the self-sustaining curse. The appearance of the once formidable bride at the vampire ball in her new attire was accompanied by public ridicule. Valeska left the reception hall, accepting the pain and humiliation with silent dignity.

She soon returned, however, with sword in hand, to prove that the court's former fears were more than justified, and more real than ever. Consumed by the flames of rage, Valeska set up a bloodbath right in the middle of the reception, soaking up more blood than the torture device had time to draw. Soon the vampire high society, including courtesans and suitors, were the lubricant for her sword. When the turn came to Vladimir, he was horrified to find that the greedy mechanism of execution would not let him drink his mistress's blood. The old vampire met his death face to face.

Now Valeska, tormented by her outfit, wanders the world in search of bloody battles to find in them either new fuel for her non-life, or a long-awaited death.

Description

I like to imagine her personality as a silent maiden of iron will. She is taciturn and constantly focused on keeping her hunger, anger, and pain behind a porcelain mask of nobility. And so, unlike Draw Ranger, she often either doesn't notice her allies or tries to politely dismiss their intrusive attention. It is not her rule to tease or taunt her enemy. All she cares about is the quantity and quality of their blood.
It is only by using her ulti that Valeska lets her emotions run wild, unleashing screams of endless agony into the world.

A few interesting facts:
    Dislikes Bloodseeker as a competitor.
    She realy hates QoP.
Valeska dislikes the non-human races because of the unpleasant taste of their blood. Despite this, she finds Huskar very appetizing.
She finds Abbadon's company pleasurable, as his mist anaesthetizes her wounds.
Wants to commission a portrait from Grimstroke.
