Shui

Disciple of Yǔ Long

Introduction
This hero was made for the Dragon Nature Unleashed Contest for r/dotaconcepts

Shui, the Disciple of Yǔ Long is a melee agility martial artist who uses the power of water to become an unstoppable tidal wade. Studying the ancient martial art of Yǔ-Jistu, Shui is adept at controlling water to bring prosperity to her allies through Revitalising Rain or destroying her enemies by conjuring a poweful waterfall or barraging her foes with surging strike. Shui is also blessed by the water, granting her increased ferocity as she shifts and strikes in the water.

Lore
Learning the martial art of Yu-Jitsu is a rite of passage for Shui's people. Yu-jitsu is a martial art created by their goddess, the water dragon Yǔ Long. Yu-Jistu teaches balance through waters unique properties of life and prosperity. Additionally Yu-Jistu taught disciples how to use water to forfity strength through using the destructive force of water to conjure powerful storms and whirling typhoons.

Shui's began her pilgrimage to the Matzu Temple on her 13th birthday because this was the age where children where excepted to begin transitioning to adulthood. The masters of the Matzu Temple would teach her how to master the art of Yǔ-Jistu. Her journey to the Matzu temple was excruciating because her journey their met by stormy weather. Shui managed to scrape her way through the storm to be welcomed by a pristine seaside, which the Qingyuen Temple reside.

Here Shui learnt the intricacies of water magic as she was taught how to bring prosperity or destruction using water. Shui was talented at Yǔ-Jistu and she quickly improved. However her natrual talent caused Shui to become arrogant. Her arrogance lead her to attempt the trial of storms peak, a trial reserved for only the greatest master's of Yǔ-Jistu, due to the mountains volatile nature. It is said at the top of this mountain is the home of the water dragon goddess Yǔ Long. Ingoring the caution of her masters she attempted to climb storms peak without the experience required to succeed. As she climbed the mountain she was overwhelmed by a raging storm, forcing her to seek refuge in a small cave on the mountainside.

She spent weeks in the cave hoping the storm would subside, but the storm kept screaming. Shui regretted her arrogance and begged for forgiveness from Yǔ Long, promising to be mor humble. Just before Shui drew her last breath, Yǔ Long appeared before Shui, her serpentine body effortlessly cut through the storm. Yǔ Long offered Shui a choice, to either perish on this mountainside or become her disciple, finishing her training then departing on a mission to investigae rumors of the battle of the ancients. Yǔ Long couldn't attend to these matters herself because she has to oversee her domain. Additionally she was skeptical of the integrity of these rumors. Shui was dissapointed she wouldn't be able to return home to her family but she had no choice. She reluctantly accpeted Yǔ Long offer, sincerely thanking her for showing mercy, despite her arrogance.

Shui completed her training, void of the arrogance that she once possessed. Afterwards she wrote a letter to her family explaining her current situation, before departing to investigate rumors of the battle of the ancients.
