Hero Lore:


Serene Mezocoatl Carilla is a promising human student in the Arancean College of Combat Magicks, adopted by one of her old professors ever since she was an infant placed in front of their dormitory. She was a nobody, not even the oldest family archive keepers of any town or province was able to trace her heritage and yet her name was written on a crumpled piece of paper beside the hay basket in which she was found. Might or might not be a plot to blur out her real identity, she still keeps this name, in hopes that she will find her birth parents someday.

She was a pupil in the class of her adoptive father, Brian Schimwield, specializing in boons and banes that empower allies with sigil enchantments and weaken foes with various curses. She did stood out in his class, but recognized as a dunce, seemingly lagging out in her lessons and sometimes caused more problems when trying to solve one given for practicing skills. It turns out, her spells were the opposite of what the class wanted to achieve. With aids giving banes and curses giving boons, one might say she would be a liability in battle. But there is more to her mishap...

Almost at wit's end, her adoptive father decided to give her a 'cheat' as one may describe, an old arcane staff that only higher ranking magi should wield, his own battle staff that was used in his previous adventures as a gift to the young caster. As her major tests in the current quarter of their class would start, he hoped it would be enough to at least it would make her pass. Few hours passed and the whole class is present, the quarter-end test has begun. The council of archmagi deemed that they were prepared for this; a magic duel between classmates. As one archmagus hovered his hand over the crowd of younglings, his fingers pointed to Serene and the other hand to a four-eyed classmate she had.

As they looked at each other, her classmate sighed with relief and a haughty expression. Upon seeing this, Serene was shying away until the archmagus mentioned her name again to be ready as the duel starts. Holding Brian's staff between her legs, she hoped she won't embarrassed him again. The battle started, and magic projectiles and sigils came flying on the field. Serene took a hit on the foe's fireball. Quickly, she casts a heal sigil unto herself, but the sigil slowed her down as her opponent laughed. He became overconfident and taunted her, saying, "Are you just gonna WALK this out? Your pet sigil is only slowing you down." He then cast multiple fireballs on her path to finish the duel. As the fireballs come in contact and exploded, her opponent felt a searing pain on themselves. Puzzled and unsettled, the opponent casts a powerful rejuvenation spell. As the dust settled, Serene stood awkwardly with the long staff she's holding, but there was no burn marks or ash around her. "I don't know what you did, but I bet you can't do it again", he pointed out since her opponent was regaining their strength through troll-inspired regeneration. Expecting no retaliation, he stood here looking at her like a harmless pet while he channels his magic.

As she noticed her opportunity to strike, she spins her staff as the color around her overconfident opponent inverted. And the unexpected happens. Instead of regenerating vitality, her opponent felt weaker and weaker until he lose consciousness which left the whole class in awe. They never had high hopes for Serene in the whole semester... until now.

The whole council stared at her with deep interest. Then one archmagus stood and walked towards her direction. Serene was nervous, as he reach his hand for her staff then she gave it to him. He then said, "I thought the Black Mirror was just a myth." Silently, she mutter without thinking, "A-am I in trouble?" The archmagus looked at her with a hint of confusion and let loose a gentle chuckle. "That's not the case, child. I guess... we now know who you really are." Her eyes showed her peaked interest as the archmagus lets her foster father Schimwield take Serene with him inside the college. ***

Introduction:


Serene Mezocoatl Carilla is an Intelligence support hero that is a mixed bag to begin with. Her Lansamer spell heals her allies after some delay but also slows them down, which makes it a bit situational. Pain Transfer can be used in a variety of ways, to kill specific enemies faster in a teamfight or increase an ally's survivability by receiving all the damage for the primary target(great for martyrs). Her Boon to Bane aura would be a nuisance during prolonged teamfights, making enemies significantly weaker after using powerful effects and buffs. Its active component Boon Copy would greatly benefit nearby allies in a heated battle, since she can copy random buffs from one enemy and gives it to a nearby ally. Lastly, her ultimate Inversion distorts the battlefield temporarily, making most enemy buffs and positive effects hazardous and reverses DoTs and other negative effects into powerful HP regen and blessing boons, making her a wonderful initiator/counter-initiator. Heck, even staying in the fountain or shrine isn't a great idea while Inversion is active.

Despite her weak base stats, her low cooldown skillset makes enemies think twice before using status effects around the battlefield, and a great sweetheart for needy heroes she would babysit.

Pain Transfer
First target becomes a voodoo doll for the second target, receives all damage but with reductions. Gives you a 3 second grace period for picking the secondary target, then it goes into cooldown.

Boon to Bane
Temporarily reverses positive duration buffs of enemies nearby after their duration has ended. It then applies the curse for half the duration. Each unit affected have separate cooldowns. This spell levels up with Boon Copy.

Boon Copy
Copies one of target's buffs randomly and applies it on another one. Lasts for the percentage of duration the target buff has. If buff isn't a duration buff, it has a base 10 second duration. When target has no buffs whatsoever, Boon Copy will not spend mana but goes into cooldown.
