Nightingale

The Mad Maestro

Nightingale the Mad Maestro is an unassuming ranged intelligence hero that directs the enemy team to turn their own spells and positioning against themselves, forcing them to have impeccable teamwork in order to survive. Nightingale's first skill, Cue, forces the targeted enemy hero into some quick thinking, making them have to quickly cast one of their spells on an enemy or see it cast on their nearest ally or rendered useless instead. His second spell, Harmony, is a multi-faceted disable that binds two enemy heroes together and forces them to work together to position themselves correctly in order to avoid being either slowed or stunned. This synergizes very well Cue as well as with his third skill, Tempo, which unleashes a projectile that harasses enemies or neutral units by rapidly bouncing between them, dealing a small amount of damage with each bounce, if they are unable to create a large distance between each other. With a chance for each bounce to cause a new projectile to be created and split off towards another target, Tempo also serves as a useful farming tool. Nightingale's ultimate, Symphony, is a potent teamfight ability that creates an area which causes any enemy who is standing within it to have their spells affect their allies as well as their enemies. While Nightingale lacks much in the way of offensive ability of his own, his ability to utilize the skills of his enemies to his own advantage ensures that he is able to project his will upon the battlefield.

Lore
For Amadeus Nightingale, to be a successful musician would be considered less of an expectation, and more of a foregone conclusion. For generations, the mere mention of his family name had drawn countless spectators from across the lands to hear some of the most beautiful music ever created. So, from the day that Nightingale was old enough to hold a conductor's baton, his instruction in the musical arts began. For his part, he took to his education eagerly, mastering several instruments at a young age and composing his first orchestral arrangement before even his teenage years. Even by the lofty standards set forth by his family name, young Nightingale was a prodigy.

As the years wore on, Nightingale's ambitions grew. Entering adulthood he had already composed over one hundred pieces of music, each more complex than the last. He was rich beyond necessity and venerated throughout the land, but still he was not satisfied. As his compositions continued to grow in ambition, he noticed that his musicians were struggling to play the pieces to his liking. For a time he searched the world for musicians talented enough to play his complex arrangements, but to no avail. Growing desperate, feeling that he was on the cusp of creating the perfect composition, he sought out the advice of a powerful warlock that he hoped could give him some way, any way, to achieve the performance that he desired. The warlock agreed to help him, and for a time Nightingale shut himself away, devoting himself entirely to the arcane arts.

Finally, he emerged from his solitude, and called together his orchestra for one final performance. Before them he placed the longest, most intricate piece of music any of them had ever seen, and all of them knew that to play the piece would be impossible. For a time they protested, but, as they knew he was quite possibly the greatest composer of music to have ever lived, they eventually relented, and put their trust in him. There would be no rehearsals; he assured them that once they were on stage, they would know what to do. Sure enough, he was correct.

Initially, the performance proceeded as normal. But eventually, as the piece grew in complexity, the musicians began to falter as before, though this time, Nightingale was undeterred. He called forth his arcane powers and compelled his performers to play with an unmatchable fervor. Trumpeters blew until their lungs were spent. Violinists and drummers played until their muscles tore from the stress. Any spectator who tried to end this damned concerto was struck down by bolts of dark arcane energy. For forty-eight hours the performance went on, and by the end all of the performers lay long dead, and Nightingale sat hunched on stage, alone and contented.

Nightingale was not seen again following the performance, though it has been said by some that a mage bearing his name had entered the fray in the battle between the ancients. It is said that the Dire itself bore witness to his performance, and saw potential in his dark arcanery, and that he was more than eager to conduct for it in a new arena.

Primary Abilities

Q
Cue
Randomly chooses an active, non-ultimate spell of the targeted enemy and displays it above them, along with a countdown, for only that enemy and their team to see. The enemy must cast this spell within the time limit, or the spell will be cast on or (in the case of non unit target spells) in the direction of their nearest ally instead. If there is no ally in range, the spell will simply be placed on cooldown.

Halves Cue cooldown, and if the affected unit is inside the Symphony AoE when the timer runs out, the spell is cast on all allies in an 700 unit radius instead of on the nearest ally.

Nightingale compels an enemy to play their part in his performance.
W
Harmony
Nightingale selects two enemy heroes to be tethered together. The closer the two heroes are to each other, the more that they are slowed, up to 80% when 100 units or less apart, and down to 10% when they are 800-900 units apart. If the heroes are between 900 and 1000 units apart from each other, their movement speed is unaffected. If they move more than 1000 units apart from each other, the tether is broken and both units are stunned and damaged. Max initial tether range (between targeted units) is 900. The tether will change color depending on the distance between the units: green when their movement speed is unaffected to red when they are either fully slowed or when the tether is about to break from distance.

E
Tempo
Shoots a projectile at an enemy target that rapidly bounces between it and a random nearby enemy or neutral, dealing damage with each bounce. On each bounce, has a chance to split and bounce between that target and another nearby target as well. If cast on a unit bound by Harmony, it is guaranteed to bounce to the other bound unit. The projectile stops bouncing if either unit dies.
