Budd

Nature's Squire

Lore: The forest had watched for millennia as heroes came and went. They would weave through its vast expanse and do with nature as they pleased. And though Verodicia, Goddess of the Woods, had placed her trust in one entity it was painfully obvious that he was not enough. The forest concentrated its energy, and upon the first new bloom it had taken form. A child of the forest, Budd would uphold the balance of things, striving to preserve life by any means necessary. A great war looms, and the forest stirs, aware of the great danger that would follow. This time, however, the forest is ready and waiting.

Role: Support, Disabler, Escape, Roamer

Hero Description: Budd, the Nature's Squire, is a melee agility hero adept at ganking and disabling enemies, and healing allies and aiding escapes. Budd pulls much of his strength from the forest, excelling in the midgame through lane rotations and control of the jungle. Budd comes online when he has all 3 skills available, and may be seen roaming through the forests under the effects of Shadewood Affinity. With this skill, Budd can cloak allies through the forest for unexpected ganking routes and unparalleled mobility through the trees. Budd can help lock enemies down through Evergreen Blade, complementing particularly well with allies using root abilities. Late game this skill becomes potent due to Budd's ability Budding. This allows him to chain root or stun enemies preventing escape, while also cloaking providing extra flexibility with escape. Budd's ultimate ability emphasizes the trees' importance in his arsenal. The healing and armor bonus magnify the more trees surround he and his allies. Budd's skillset requires excellent vision and coordination to get the most out of his abilities, and he relies as much on his teammates as they would on him.

Primary Abilities

Q
Evergreen Blade
Budd's attacks have a chance to cause vines to burst forth, rooting an enemy in place and dealing damage per second for 2 seconds. The root lasts longer the more trees surround the enemy within a 200/250/300/350 radius. The skill may be activated to stun rooted targets, if targets are not rooted they are ministunned instead.

Budd can summon the strength of the forest itself to bind his enemies.
W
Shadewood Affinity
Budd is able to attune himself and his allies to the forest, granting them ability to walk through trees uninhibited. Attacking cancels the effects of Shadewood Affinity. Budd has flying vision while traveling through trees. Budd's attacks made out of Shadewood Affinity when near a tree trigger the current Evergreen Blade's root.

A really interesting concept though the ultimate seems extremely niche and hard to gain any value out of. Getting 100 Heal and 3 armor on a 180 second cooldown is really underwhelming.

Hey! Appreciate the feedback. I had planned for Budd to be more of a niche midrange threat to shutdown the enemy jungle and make ganks and sidelanes heavily favor Budd's team. Lategame I imagined Gaia's Blessing to be more of a makeshift fountain so that his team could disengage from highground and reengage fully healed. If however, the team had needed a bigger boost, the level 25 talent provides a monstrous 700 range on the tree search radius. Most parts of the map would have at least 5-10 trees within a 700 radius, more with better positioning, leading to a monstrous amount of healing. Though these applications may be narrow, I believe Budd doesn't need an overwhelmingly powerful ultimate ability if his base abilities are powerful enough on their own.
