Don't listen to them, Kirby's items suck and stun+crit is by far the best way to skill SK. You should add refresher orb and rapier in your items though.

Prioritize Stun and Aura over Crit early and it would look a bit better.

This is a decent guide. Your item build covers the majority* of items that would benefit your average SK; my only real nitpick there is your lack of starting Branches/Magic Wand later. Magic Wand + Soul Ring go very well together (practically unlimited Mana for Hellfire Blast/Reincarnation) and even grant SK a strong degree of safety versus Antimage and the like (potential 300+ burst Mana regen on demand).

Also even though this build is aimed towards newer players, I still no reason not to recommend this skill build over the one you currently have listed:
Q/Stats/Q/Stats/Q/R/Q/W/E/E/R/E/E/W/W/R/W

Stats are preferable to Critical Strike or Vampiric Aura at early levels for the HP/Mana boost for increased lane presence. Neither Critical Strike (which provides, without items, a minor DPS boost) or Vampiric Aura (passively pushes your lane) are worth taking before Level 8.

* Other potentially effective, unmentioned items possibly worth a blurb include Quelling Blade, Urn of Shadows, Drum of Endurance, Desolator and vintage pub equipment like Basher/S&Y.
