Some might already have seen my suggested range-increase item, David's Sling, and knows that I'm searching for a good equivalent to Battle Fury -- which gives Cleave to melee heroes -- for ranged heroes. This idea is about invisible projectiles:
Bonus: +6 All Stats +75% Mana Regeneration +20 Damage +45 Attack Speed
Active: Obscure
Makes your attack projectiles invisible to enemy sight. Team mates will still see them.
Duration: 8
Crouching tiger, hidden projectile.
Notes:
Enemy true sight will reveal your projectiles.
The debuff from Dust of Appearance disables Obscure as long as the debuff is active (Thoughts?)
This item would be good for ranged carries or gankers who rely on good positioning and not being targeted, like Sniper, Nature's Prophet, Outworld Devourer to think of some. Anyone who's played Ability Draft knows how confusing it can be to fight against a melee hero with a ranged attack modifier (which grants "invisible attack projectiles"). Also, as of now Shadow Amulet only has one use, Shadow Blade, so I like that it gets another. The idea of invisible projectiles could be combined with the range increase idea, making a more expensive but (obviously) better "hidden-attacks-item".
Thoughts?
An item that makes your attacks undetectable? Interesting... Perhaps you could also make the user disappear from the mini-map as well to add to the confusion, especially when playing Nature's Prophet.
Thank you!
I have come to like the range increase item I suggestion parallel to this a bit more, but this sure has some utility and potential as well.
@Porygon: Yeah, disappearing from the minimap could be an additional feature. Good for surprise initiations as well!
@Unscathed: Situational items are good; they are much more interesting than standard cores. Since your projectiles can't be seen, they won't discover you in the fog upon attacking, naturally ;)
