Introduction

Ember Spirit is a very powerful hero that can deal a lot of damage throughout the game. He is a very good nuker early and a fantastic right-clicker later game.

Attributes and Skills

Attributes

-Strength: 19 + 2.0 x Level
-Agility: 22 + 1.8 x Level - Primary Attribute
-Intelligence: 20 + 1.8 x Level

Base stats are OK. He gains little damage per level, so DPS items are very important with his skillset. Gains more strength than his primary attribute (Agility). Intelligence will only really be a problem before you have Bottle and your ult (explained later), but you are not going to spam any spells very early.

Skills:

Searing Chains is a spell which will unleash 2 Chains around Ember Spirit that hit random targets around him. They will disable any movement, Blink and spells like Poof and Charge of Darkness for 1/2/2/3 seconds while also dealing 80/60/120/100 per second which gives a total of 80/120/240/300 damage. Fantastic Disable that can be used to deal damage and disable while chasing or defensively by using Searing Chains under tower when dived for EZ KILLS.

When you cast Sleight of Fist on an area, Ember Spirit will hit any enemies in that area one by one. He hits one enemy every two seconds. When hitting creeps it has a damage penalty of 50% but when used on Heroes it will grant 20/40/60/80 bonus damage. Starts out with a very long 30 second cooldown but on level 4 is only 6. Sinergizes well with a lot of DPS items, Battlefury comes to mind. Combos with Searing Chains, just chain them while you're in Sleight of Fist. Will take some practice though.

When Ember Spirit activates Flame Guard he deals 30/40/50/60 damage per second in a 400 radius around him and soaks up 50/200/350/500 magic damage for 8/12/16/20. Can be used offensively to add power or defensively against nukers. It is basically a free Radiance and Pipe of Insight. Good against Magical Harass from Queen of Pain.

When used, it places a Fire Remnant on the ground which can be jumped to using Activate Fire Remnant. When you arrive, 100/150/200 damage will be done in a 450 AoE.
A very versatile spell which can be used to:
-Refill Bottle.
-Initiation/Escape.
-After buyback return to a teamfight.
-Scare your enemies or Gain Vision.

Pros/Cons

Pros
  • Great Damage Output throughout the game
  • Very mobile, good initiation/escape
  • Good against nukers
  • Very versatile spells
  • Great synergy with a lot of DPS items.
Cons
  • Bad Stat Gain
  • Squishy without Flame Guard against nukers
  • When locked down can be taken down easily.

Items

Ember Spirit always goes for a standard set of items.

Starting:

- Tango and Healing Salve are standard regeneration to keep you in lane. If you get a Tango (Shared from your allies you won't really need to buy the normal Tangoes.
- Iron Branches and Stout Shield will help with the early stats and defense as you are relatively squishy.

Early:

- Ember Spirit can easily refill his Bottle by placing a remnant on the ground, going back to base with Town Portal Scroll and get back to the remnant
- Phase Boots provide a speed burst on top of the MS, and give Ember Spirit raw damage which he loves for Sleight of Fist.
- Magic Wand gives you a nice burst of HP and Mana in fights.
- Bracer builds into Drum of Endurance and gives some nice stats.

Core:

- Battle Fury is a signature item for Ember Spirit. Every time he hits an enemy through sleight of fist he hits any units around that target so he can hit enemies multiple times. The regen also makes so you have to go to the fountain less often.
- Drum of Endurance is a great and cheap item for INT+HP. The MS boost helps with chasing together with Phase Boots.

Late Game DPS:
-A fast Desolator melts the enemy's armor so Sleight of Fist will take more damage.
- Daedalus works in Sleight of Fist and helps with taking down enemies even faster.
-If Mjollnir's chain lightning pops in Sleight of Fist it'll help with taking down enemies even faster.
-Getting more Battle Furys results in even more damage with Sleight of Fist, dealing even more damage around the hit target.

Late Game (Others):

- Eye of Skadi adds a bit of DPS, and also slows enemies for easier chasing.
-If you need a lot of armor against heavy right clickers when going for a Desolator over Eye of Skadi a Shiva's Guard might be handy as you'll deal even more damage during Sleight of Fist while also having the Slow, similar to that of Skadi. However when going for Eye of Skadi an Assault Cuirass might be handier to still get the armor reduction.
- Satanic usually restores you back to full health if it's active while in Sleight of Fist!
- Black King Bar should be gotten against a team with a bunch of disables and Linken's Sphere is against heavy single-target burst. Linken's gives you a lot better stats.

Optionals:

- Blink Dagger helps chase other enemy Blinkers like Queen of Pain, Anti-Mage and Blink Dagger itself. Also gives extra mobility.
- Manta Style helps to purge off silence while adding more DPS and pushing power.
- Monkey King Bar helps with damage alot and is used to counter Evasion/Miss chance heroes like Brewmaster, Troll Warlord and Phantom Assassin.
- Divine Rapier adds insane damage and helps out with Sleight of Fist. Should help you ensure to win a game.

Gameplay

Early Game, try to get a level 6 as early as possible.
If you are low and your Bottle is empty (you're level 6), do the Ember bottle refill.

Place a remnant, TP to fountain, refill the bottle and regen back up to full HP and Mana, jump back to the remnant.

After the laning stage, keep roaming and ganking to get a quick Battle Fury. Once you get a Battle Fury teamfights will start happening. Take advantage of a quick Battlefury in teamfights.

When you start pushing and killing, after a Battle Fury pick up a Drum of Endurance for the bonus stats. Desolator and Daedalus are very helpful for taking down enemies faster. From then, any hard DPS item can be good. If you need to purge silence, buy Manta. You need more DPS, buy Rapier or MKB. Need to chase blinkers, get a blink yourself!

Friends, Foes and Easy Burns

Friends: Who does Ember Spirit work well with?

- Magnus can Empower you for alot of extra damage and a powerful cleave. His Reverse Polarity will bring enemies together to ensure to deal all the cleave damage.
- Dark Seer also brings enemies together like Magnus but gives you less time and no bonus damage/cleave to work with.
- Crystal Maiden helps Ember Spirit early with mana regen, and can chain disable with Searing Chains with her Frostbite and can help nuking enemies down with Crystal Nova
- Enigma gives you time to get your Sleight of Fist off and combo your damage with Black Hole

Foes: Who does Ember Spirit hate to go up against?

Bash

-Any Silence (specialist is Silencer) will destroy you and remove your only escape or initiation + fighting potential. Silencer his silence can not be purged by Manta.
-Any Stun (e.g. Bash) makes you easy to be taken down. Magnus disables you for a maximum of 4,5 seconds.
- Bane does not only disable you with a lot of spells (7 sec for nightmare and 5 sec for Fiend's Grip, 7 with Agh's), but also burns mana and removes your damage.

Easy Burns: Who is bad against Ember Spirit?

-If you have Battle Fury, Meepo and Phantom Lancer with their extra Meepos or Illusions will take a lot more damage from Sleight of Fist.
- Sniper and Drow Ranger are squishy and can be jumped on easily as they don't have any form of escape except if they pick up Shadow Blade or Silver Edge. Easy early kills.
