TormentorMaN's Baller Wraith King Guide

Introduction

Wraith King is a very tanky carry throughout the entire game. He has a free 1 minute cooldown Aegis of the Immortal called Reincarnation. He is built like most Strength hard carries. This is how i play him, as a safelane farming carry that can snowball out of control mid-late game.

Skills

Wraithfire Blast

is a nice stun that does a total of 300 magic damage and slows after the stun. It helps secure kills before your enemies notice. It's main potential lies early-mid game ganking.

Vampiric Aura

is a great teamfight passive that'll help keep your allies alive in teamfights. It stacks with other lifesteal and orbs, however even more lifesteal isn't needed. Watch out skilling it early as it can push your lane and help your enemies deny your last hits.

Mortal Strike

increases your DPS highly and works well with Wraithfire Blast. Its main purpose is to increase DPS late game. As with Vampiric Aura, it doesn't help you in lane, but works against you as it'll ruin some last hits if you hit enemy creeps earlier.

Reincarnation

is insane. It's basically a pocket Aegis on just a 1 min cooldown. Be wary of your mana and cooldown so you will not overextend while you won't reincarnate.

Skill Tips:

- As with any stun, time Wraithfire Blast and use it on priority DPS dealers, preferably squishies like Clinkz and Drow Ranger
- Hoard Vampiric Aura and Mortal Strike in lane to not push your lane or screw up on any last hits
- Be wary of the Cooldown and Mana Cost of your Reincarnation. Doing so will help you stay alive and not overextend.

Items

Starting:

A set of regeneration with Tango and Healing Salve with Stout Shield and 2 Iron Branches will help you to stay in lane farming. On level 1, 2 and 3 your damage is very low but will increase rather fast.

Early-Mid Game:

Your job as a Carry is to farm up an Armlet of Mordiggian ASAP, go Helm of the Iron Will first. Power Treads are standard and help with Attack Speed and some Strength. Blink Dagger is an awesome initiation/escape item and makes a great combo with Wraithfire Blast. Skull Basher into Abyssal Blade helps lock down enemies for even longer with Wraithfire Blast, while also making you a bit more tanky.

Late Game Options:

I've put in a lot of them, but i'll work through this a little quicker. Assault Cuirass, Moon Shard and Mjollnir all help with Attack Speed, while Assault Cuirass makes you a bit more tanky. A Shiva's Guard will help with Armor while slowing enemies to own in 1v1 situations. A Black King Bar grants you spell immunity to last (longer at least) in teamfights. Heart of Tarrasque and Radiance (<3 6.84) also help with Tankiness and improve DPS. Monkey King Bar and Desolator also do the trick with more DPS. Desolator improves pushing powers.

Situational Early/Late:

In the Early game, getting Hand of Midas helps increase farm a lot and improves attack speed. When you get even more farm, picking up Boots of Travel will help with Global Presence and farm. A Soul Ring grants nice regen and the burst of mana before a Reincarnation will result in last-minute Reincarnation if you wouldn't have had the mana otherwise.

Blade Mail is very handy against squishy, hard right clickers such as Juggernaut, Clinkz and Drow Ranger. Also provides you with overall stats. A Drum of Endurance makes you a bit more mobile while providing decent early stats. Eye of Skadi is when you don't need more pushing power and you'd rather have the slow orb. A Refresher Orb is very situational if you are the main tank in teamfights. Shadow Blade into Silver Edge is handy if you need to solo gank early as replacement for Blink Dagger. In most games, Blink Dagger is much better. Divine Rapier is great for Wraith King as he can hold it longer with Reincarnation. Is picked up if you just can't finish the game without one.

Friends and Foes

Friends; Who does Wraith King pair well with?

Wisp/IO: He/She/It/Whatever helps you early-mid game in fights with more attack speed, damage and regen through tether and gives you global presence with Relocate.

Vengeful Spirit: With her Magic Missile and your Wraithfire Blast you can setup for chain-stuns and thus some early kills. Also, her Wave of Terror lowers the armor of enemies, increasing YOUR DPS.

Alchemist: Since you need other hard DPS items you can't pick up Aghanim's Scepter. Well, Alchemist can grant you that for free, as long as he can get it. If Alchemist farms midlane, you'll have it very soon. He can also work as a support, and can chainstun with Unstable Concoction and Wraithfire Blast.

Foes: Who (and what) does Wraith King hate to go up against?

Heroes

Anti-Mage and

Phantom Lancer (with Diffusal Blade): Will rapidly drain your mana so you won't be able to Reincarnate. Can be countered by Black King Bar in teamfights.

Silencer and
Outworld Devourer
Outworld Devourer: Will both remove your Intelligence (thus mana), while Silencer's Curse of the Silent will also drain mana. When they take enough intelligence, Wraith King's done for.

Items

Diffusal Blade: Heroes with rapid attack speed or illusions e.g. Phantom Lancer, Naga Siren will prevent you from Reincarnating. Also, Reincarnation can be dispelled.

Conclusion

Wraith King is a very tanky Carry that can deal massive amounts of damage. He has very little counters and can devastate entire teams. He could work as a support too, but mainly he just plays Carry.

That'll wrap it up y'all! Please post your thoughts in the Comments, and help me with tips to improve this guide! Also tell me who i should give a guide next!
