LORE

How long has it been since he lost his name? The torn ruin of his mind no longer knows.

Dimly he recalls armor and banners and grim-faced kin riding at his side. He remembers a battle: pain and fear as pale hands ripped him from his saddle. He remembers terror as they threw him into the yawning pit of the Dead God alongside his brothers, to hear the Dirge and be consumed into nothingness. In the darkness below, time left them. Thought left them. Sanity left them. Hunger, however, did not. They turned on each other with split fingernails and shattered teeth. Then it came: distant at first, a fragile note at the edge of perception, joined by another, then another, inescapable and unending. The chorus grew into a living wall of sound pulsing in his mind until no other thought survived. With the Dirge consuming him, he opened his arms to the Dead God and welcomed his obliteration. Yet destruction was not what he'd been chosen for. The Dead God demanded war. In the belly of the great nothing, he was granted a new purpose: to spread the Dirge across the land, to rally the sleepless dead against the living. He was to become the Undying, the herald of the Dead God, to rise and fall and rise again whenever his body failed him. To trudge on through death unending, that the Dirge might never end.

THIS MEAN ZOMBIE, has been alive for so many years and he has one of the greatest team fight potentials because of his AMPLIFICATION of damage and ZOMBIES. For all zombie lovers out there, This, is your hero to play.

Introduction

Greetings readers!

Before I start my guide on my own build proper, let me first introduce myself. I am Raylos or more commonly known as Finale on steam and started playing Dota around June 2012. Although I may not be a professional, I have played long enough to develop my own opinions regarding certain heroes and their builds. This is my very first guide and I am open to comments or suggestions as my build isn't totally completed yet :) Do guide me along to writing guides.

Thank you!

Chapter 1: Explanation of the unique build

Ladies and gentlemen,

The main objective for this build is not to tank team fights like conventional Undyings, or to try to nuke down your opponents. The point of this guide is to DISABLE your enemies so that your team and your zombies can tear them down whilst trying to keep your team alive

Right, so for this build, all you have to remember is that your zombies are your main guns. Plant your tombstone, Slow an enemy hero, let zombies spawn and you can choose to right click him away or back of a little, letting your more important carries get the kill.

Initially, you will start of with a ring of protection, a stout shield, clarity and tango. Your clarity is to help you manage part of your mana issue esp in the early game where Decay will be often used. Tango is for your basic regen and the shield is for suitability. Ring or protection can than be built into a Ring of Basilius early to help your mana + push your lane if the need arise. Next, you would farm your boots and buy a Ring of Regen fron the side shop. Dissembling your RoB will allow you to get your tranquil boots + a Sage mask left over. The Sage Mask can than be turned into a Medallion of courage. The extra armour helps you survive more and the mana regen is great for a mana hungry hero like you. This enables you to stay in lane for as long as possible (Tranquil boots) whilst making use of the side shop. No selling of items are required and the courier will only be used when you are getting your Medallion of Courage. Tranquil boots will help you in your regeneration and your Medallion will help your mana issues.

The reduction in armour of your enemy lets your team deal more damage via right clicks and as your ultimate also amplifies the damage output, YAY, synergy!

Next, you would want to farm for a Rod of Atos. Generally i would recommend you getting the vitality booster first because of the hp, than getting the other parts. Rod of Atos is a very good item that can be used to save your team, slow down an enemy hero. This synergises well with your Ultimate + your Zombies. The slow will slow your enemy long enough for some zombies to spawn. Your zombies can next deal damage and add further slow him down. This is very beneficial if you are trying to escape from a gank. Do remember to slow the enemy carries or whichever hero that poses more of a threat.

You would have realised by now that you are facing some mana issues. No worries! Grab a Eul's of Divinity for the mana regen+ great disable. You can temporarily remove an enemy hero from the team fight and as he is in the cyclone, zombies can still spawn, waiting for him :) This will help your mana issues + Maximize your Zombie Count.

Remember that you are suppose to Save your team and your Zombies are your Big Guns. This build is not for a tank, but more of a Utility

Friends and Foes

Undying needs some mana so

Foe

Nyx
Anti-Mage
Kotl
Necrolyte
Axe
Slark
Earthshaker

Friends

Crystal Maiden
Skywrath Mage
Tidehunter

Most Semi- Carries

Note: You are playing as a utility support, therefore if possible, let your partner that is laning get all the lhs if he is a carry

Chapter 2: Skill build

As you would know, This whole build relies on your Zombies to deal as much damage as possible. So, maxing them first would be the most ideal.

Adding decay at the first level allows you to harrass the enemy and steal their strength, try to use Decay sparingly and try to draw first blood.

Adding your 2nd skill allows you to heal you or your team should the need arise. Or you can nuke the enemy too

From level 3 onwards, Start maxing out your tombstones. To me, you should not get a level in Ultimate at level 6 but should add a 2nd skill point in your heal so that it can ensure a kill as a nuke or save an ally which is much more important. Golden rule: Play safe, you are not a tank. If need, drop your tombstone and run! Once your tombstone is maxed out at level 7, You should start adding skill points into your Heal/ Nuke. Only get your ultimate at level 10 and 11. By level 11, do not hesitate to pop our ultimate whenever your team wants to engage as it not only slows, but also amplifies damage. Drop your tombstone, use your disables on heroes, Let zombies spawn, Sap their strength using your Decay, heal your teams or nuke the enemy! Your ultimate will heal you a little with every kill from creep/hero so do not be afraid!

This build strays away from the conventional or norm playing of Undying. comments are welcomed!

All in all, This build is more of a support/utility Undying, and as you can see, not much items is needed, cheap stuff eh :D

Thank you!
