Necrolyte, Of The Overpowered Ultimate

The Kraken
July 26, 2012

Introduction

This is a guide to necrolyte, a ranged intelligence hero who is one of my favourite characters in the game because he is fun, he has a healing spell,a mana regen spell, and most importantly his extremely overpowered ultimate, that allows him(once he has a scepter)to kill any hero on 55% health, even if they have 3000 hp left.

Pros And Cons

Pros:
-Has a healing spell
-Has a mana regen spell
-Can lane well with almost any character
-Great Mid
-Can deal good damage early game
-Extremely powerful ultimate

Cons:
-Squishy until you get a bloodstone
-Cannot do lots of damage without ultimate late game
-Has no built in disable

Skill Build

My skill build has the idea of letting you harass with heartstopper aura and heal early game using death pulse, and regenerate the mana used with sadist. You can then focus on getting your ultimate leveled as quickly as possible to make necrolyte an extremely dangerous hero later in the game.

Skills

DEATH PULSE
This is a great AOE nuke that deals an average 300 damage to all enemy units around you, and heals all allied units. This spell is brilliant early game, both for harrass, last hitting, and above all, the heal. A good way of getting first blood is to bait enemies when you are on low hp, then heal yourself, and damage them, opening up endless oppotunities. This spell should be maxed straight after hearstopper.

HEARTSTOPPER AURA
This spell can be used to deal massive amounts of damage over time, making it one of teh best early game lane harrassing spells ever, seeing as it is a passive. This skill is great for cancelling salves and clarities for far away, and should always be maxed out first.

SADIST
This passive is exceptionally good at give early game mana regen. As you last hit, you will recieve mana, and so if your timing is good, you can cast death pulse on a bunch of low hp creeps, and recieve enough mana to cover the spell cost, giving you a load of free gold.

REAPER'S SCYTHE
Necro's ulti is what makes him such an amazing hero. When you have a scepter, gives you an insta - kill on anyone of half hp. 'Nuff Said.

Item Build

Side Lanes
My item build starts with the basic salve and tango set, then you want to be heading for either a wand or some bracers, so your starting gold should be spent on gauntlets or branches. As soon as you get your arcane, either finish off your bracers,or buy an aghanim's scepter, which gives you more hp, and greatly improves your ultimate to 1.2 damage per hp missing (55% kill threshhold). If the game continues, aim for a scythe of vyse, as this will give you a great disable to get your enemy on low enough health to ulti, and a bloodstone gives you a better chance of survival against high damage spells.

Mid
When mid, a bottle to start gives you rune control for the first 3 minutes, and enough hp regen to last the lane. Bracers straight away let you farm hard for you scepter, and prevent too much harass. After starting items, just buy the normal Scepter, Bloodstone and Scythe.

Summary

I recomend necrolyte to anyone, whether they are an advanced player, or a complete novice, as he can deal good damage, can heal and regen mana, and looks epic with his scythe :D.I wrote this when I was but a noob in the dota 2 world, and so have upgraded it in different ways - please do not judge by older ratings. Any comments on my builds will be gratefully accepted. Thanks for reading, and enjoy the character!

Kinda short guide, you should add more info that would help, like, friends and foes, situational items, etc.

But it's not bad at all.

I think that the hearstopper aura isn't really good enough to spend level points on, when you have other options which suit the character better, but you could level it up once early game to stop the enemy regaining health in fights.

Are you serious? Heartstopper is the best lane harass on the game along with Tidebringer

Man, you MUST max Heartstopper Aura first, along with Sadist, so that when you get your ulti at lvl 6 your oppoment is low enough to kill him. I max Sadist second so that I always have mana to use my ulti. Lategame, a Radiance is pretty good, since along with Heartstopper Aura and Death Pulse you will do massive AoE damage!
