Introduction

Medusa the Gorgon is a ranged agility Hero. Highly item-dependent, she acts as a carry who can potentially strike down entire teams at once while protected by tank-like survivability.

Lore: Beauty is power. This thought comforted Medusa--the youngest and loveliest of three beautiful Gorgon sisters, born to a sea goddess--because she alone of the sisters was mortal. It comforted her, that is, until the day masked assailants invaded the Gorgon realm and tore the two immortal sisters from their home, unmoved by their beauty or by their tears. One of the invaders seized Medusa as well, but then cast her aside with a disgusted look: 'This one has the mortal stink upon her. We have no use for that which dies.' Humiliated, enraged, Medusa fled to the temple of her mother and cast herself before the goddess, crying, 'You denied me eternal life--therefore I beg you, give me power! Power, so I can dedicate what life I have to rescuing my sisters and avenging this injustice!' After long thought, the goddess granted her daughter's request, allowing Medusa to trade her legendary beauty for a face and form of terrifying strength. Never for a moment has Medusa regretted her choice. She understands that power is the only beauty worth possessing--for only power can change the world...

Pros

Medusa a great counter to heroes that either summon illusions, purchase Manta style in their item build or rely heavily on their auto-attacks to do damage. Examples of these heroes would be Phantom Lancer, Chaos Knight and Faceless Void.

    Extremely durable

    5 target DPS

    Game braking ultimate

    Walking tower

    Great anti-push capability

    Ultimate goes through bkb

    Can kill kraken!

Cons
    Highly item dependent

    Fragile early game

Poor late game if not farmed

    Super late game ''ultra'' carry

Intems,skills

Medusa have 3 late game scaling skills, split shot, mana shield, and stone gaze, so we need to get items that can help improve those skills.
Mana shield and split shot both are item dependent skills, split shot benefits from damage items and attack speed. Mana shield is skill that makes medusa special durbale, making such items as eye of skadi very good.

Survivability intems -> Linkens,Eye of skadi,Butterfly,Bloodstone

Dps intems -> Daedalus,Rapier,Butterfly

When to pick Medusa

I recommend to pick her if your team lacks of hard carry, and your team have good early-mid game, also you need at least 2-3 great DPS dealers in your team, like ursa, bloodseeker, shadow fiend, legion commander and so on, because of your ultimate.

Also consider to pick her if enemy team have many melee heroes who rely heavily on their auto-attacks.

Avoid to pick medusa if enemy team have super early-mid game, with lot of gankers and pushers, there will be no space for you. In this case try to stack ancients its at least something.

Game strategy

If you want you can go in any lane, but basically just stay near to your tower and get as much last hits as possible, try to this until you have at least 11th level, and power treads, and 1/2 of linkens. You have great second skill(mystical snake) which can be used to get last hits, to nuke enemy heroes and to harras opponents.

People my think that medusa is hard carry and she needs to jungle until 20+ min, but you can do so much for your team to counter initiation or pushing.

Personally i go Linkens-> Mjollnir, so i can be durable and deal some good damage.

Why mjollnir, because its provide attack speed and good after effect to farm.

Terms

1) Stay close to your tower
2) Harass opponents with mystical snake from distance
3) Don't save your money and buy wards, for your safety, because you will be ganked a lot(its supports job,but in pubs you never know)
4) Don't go alone anywhere, at least early on.
5) In team fights stay behind your melee heroes
6) Try to use your ultimate more as counter initiation.
7) Also Don't be afraid to use your ultimate if someone try to gank u.

When u have linkens u can feel much safer to farm alone, if someone wants to gank u, use your stone gaze, then tp to your base.

What counters you?

Early game

Early game medusa is fragile,so your worst nightmare are aggressive duos or trios, and combos with strong stuns, slows, and nukes.

Mid game

Mid game medusa is durable, and it is very hard to gank her, because of linkens, mana shield, stone gaze and tp combo :D

And if you are successful enough to buy manta style, then its ridiculous safe for you to farm.

In this stage of game you need to fear of Anti mage, because you dont have that much mana to tank him, at least you dont need to fear his ultimate, you have linkens.

Late game

You fear no one, Anti mage is not even a big threat to you, just remember, stay behind your team, use your ultimate when enemy team initiates, and use your split shot to out Dps them all.

How to counter medusa

Rapier and medusa

Medusa is one of the best if not the best rapier holder in game, why?

1)She have mana shield, that makes her more durable then other heroes, and that means that there is little chance to drop it.

2)Huge damage benefits thanks to split shot(5 targets)

WARNING

Do not buy rapier before you have at least two survivability items, also you need some attack speed that you can get with more agility stats.
