HUNTING BOUNTIES WITH GONDAR

SOHEARNY
February 22, 2014

Introduction

This is a guide for Bounty Hunter in the offlane position and will be focused on roaming and ganking as soon as you hit level 6.

When the hunted tell tales of Gondar the Bounty Hunter, none are sure of which are true. In whispered tones they say he was abandoned as a kit, learning his skill in tracking as a matter of simple survival. Others hear he was an orphan of war, taken in by the great Soruq the Hunter to learn the master's skill with a blade as they plumbed the dark forests for big game. Still others believe he was a lowly street urchin raised among a guild of cutpurses and thieves, trained in the arts of stealth and misdirection. Around campfires in the wild countryside his quarry speaks the rumors of Gondar's work, growing ever more fearful: they say it was he who tracked down the tyrant King Goff years after the mad regent went into hiding, delivering his head and scepter as proof. That it was he who infiltrated the rebel camps at Highseat, finally bringing the legendary thief White Cape to be judged for his crimes. And that it was he who ended the career of Soruq the Hunter, condemned as a criminal for killing the Prince's prized hellkite. The tales of Gondar's incredible skill stretch on, with each daring feat more unbelievable than the last, each target more elusive. For the right price, the hunted know, anyone can be found. For the right price, even the mightiest may find fear in the shadows.

Ability overview

Shuriken Toss

Hurls a deadly shuriken at an enemy unit, dealing damage and mini-stunning the target.
Mana CostMANA COST: 90/115/135/155
CooldownCOOLDOWN: 10

ABILITY: UNIT TARGET
AFFECTS: ENEMY UNITS
DAMAGE: MAGICAL
DAMAGE: 100 / 200 / 250 / 325

Targetable nuke that interrupts channeling. Max this first as this will give you the highest possible damage output early game, be sure to use this to stop enemies from teleporting/channeling abilities.

Jinada

Bounty Hunter plans his next hit, passively adding a critical strike and maim to his next attack.
CooldownCOOLDOWN: 12/10/8/6

ABILITY: PASSIVE
BONUS DAMAGE: 150% / 175% / 200% / 225%
MOVE SLOW: 25% / 25% / 25% / 25%
ATTACK SLOW: 25 / 25 / 25 / 25
DURATION: 3 / 3 / 3 / 3

Bread and butter skill, useful for securing last hits early on, late game this skill is amazing when you have a higher damage output, allowing you to one-shot squishy supports if you are far ahead enough.

Shadow Walk

Bounty Hunter becomes invisible and gains the ability to move through other units until he attacks or uses an ability. If he breaks the invisibility with an attack, that attack will deal bonus damage.
Mana CostMANA COST: 50/50/50/50

DURATION: 15 / 20 / 25 / 30
FADE TIME: 1 / 0.75 / 0.5 / 0.25
BONUS DAMAGE: 30 / 60 / 90 / 120

Signature Bounty hunter skill, use to soak up xp in lane without getting harassed, or use to surprise enemies with the bonus damage.

Track

Tracks an enemy hero, giving True Sight of it and grants a gain in movement speed to allies near the hunted. If the target dies, Bounty Hunter and nearby heroes collect a bounty in gold.
Mana CostMANA COST: 50
CooldownCOOLDOWN: 10/7/5

ABILITY: UNIT TARGET
AFFECTS: ENEMY HEROES
SPEED RADIUS: 900 / 900 / 900
BONUS SPEED: 20% / 20% / 20%
BONUS GOLD FOR SELF: 150 / 200 / 250
BONUS GOLD FOR ALLIES: 50 / 100 / 150
DURATION: 30 / 30 / 30
CAST RANGE: 900 / 1050 / 1200

Amazing skill, try and always track someone before you kill them, the bonus gold for you and your allies is nothing to laugh at, track kills are what can keep you in the game if you are behind in kills. Use it on enemies constantly as long as they don't see you, the 30 secs of hero vision can be so useful in either setting up a gank or for avoiding your allies being ganked.

Gameplay tips

In the laning phase you basically just want to soak up xp as quickly as possible. If your enemies don't harass you in lane then by all means go for last hits, jinada will help you with this. If you are being harassed out of lane then just be a pest in the enemy jungle, by harassing the enemy jungler if they have one.

As soon as you hit level 6, this is where Gondars' mid-game begins, and this is when you want to leave the lane and start roaming around the map looking for kills constantly.

Item justification

Phase boots

Best boots for bounty in my opinion, movespeed burst is great for chasing targets down and the bonus damage is great.

Bottle

I always pick up a bottle with Bounty, even if my mid has a bottle too. You need the regen to stop you from having to go back to base and you will sometimes be able to pick up runes that your mid hero doesn't need.

Medallion of courage

Great ganking item and provides plenty of mana regen as long as you don't spam shuriken too much. Pick up either this or an urn

Urn of shadows

Another good ganking item, I prefer Medallion but this works too. Definitely don't get both.

Vladimir's Offering

Great team aura if another team mate doesn't have one, the basilius provides some nice early mana regen too.

Desolator

Always my first damage item on Gondar, the minus armour go really well with his other abilities and this will make your jinada start hitting like a truck.

Black King bar

Great item for team-fighting later on in the game. Will let you burst down squishier heroes without getting stunned or disabled. Close to being a core item on this hero as it solves a lot of his lack of survivability.

Monkey king bar

Provides loads more damage which you want for bursting heroes down, also definitely get this if the enemy has any evasion.

Orchid Malevolance

Provides you with a good disable, more bursting power and all the mana and regen you could possibly need, great item.

Assault Cuirass

If your team doesn't have one already, Bounty hunter is a great AC carrier.

Heart of Tarrasque

Increased survivability and HP regen if you feel too squishy even with a BKB.

Rod of Atos

Great stats and the active is really nice for chasing down enemies more easily.

RAPIER

If you are balling hard, you are winning the game and you don't see yourself dying, why not buy rapiers? One-shotting everything is always fun.

DON'T BUY BATTLEFURY!

Please, don't. You shouldn't be farming with Bounty hunter, you should be hunting, and battlefury is a bad item for picking off heroes. If you want to play a hard farming carry, play a different hero.
