Hi, I'm lonewaft, and I'll be bringing you the ultimate Ursa guide today. Ursa is a powerful gank-carry that can start off in a lane or a jungle depending on your preference. I will be giving a jungle ursa build strat for you guys today.
Ursa is a special hero that benefits from repeated autoattacks. His passive makes him stack attack damage on every hit to an enemy, and he has a active that gives him max attack speed for a few hits, a aoe slow/damage, and an ultimate that buffs his damage by a percentage of his current health.
Ursa should be picked when there are lots of squishy heroes on the other team, or heroes with no escapes (drow ranger, kunnka, lifestealer).

  • Spells cost lots of mana, while Ursa has terrible int gain
  • Slows and stuns make him useless
  • Ghost Scepter shuts him down
  • Blinks, banishes, etc will stop him from touching you
  • Gets outcarried late game
  • No power against illusion heroes.


Skills

Ursa has an arsenal of powerful skills that make him a powerful ganker-carry.

Earthshock is an AOE slow, and the only crowd control ability that Ursa has. The radius, damage and slow is very much like a Brewmaster Thunder Clap except for a smaller AOE and less manacost. Though it is a great spell, at early levels, Ursa just does not have the mobility or mana pool to use this skill sparingly. I do not level it on him until lv 7-8 when Ursa has his Phase Boots and/or Blink Dagger to get himself in position to land the Earthshock.

Overpower is an active buff that gives Ursa max attack speed for 3/4/5/6 attacks. This skill synergizes very well with Ursa's third skill Fury Swipes because it allows him to get the stacks up very quickly. Be advised, Overpower has one of the worst casting animations in the game, do this before initiating, not afterwards.

Fury Swipes is Ursa's bread and butter. Straightforwardly, it stacks 15/20/25/30 damage per hit to an enemy Ursa hits. As long as you hit the enemy within 6 seconds of each hit, the damage keeps stacking. This synergizes with Overpower and also allows Ursa to roshan very quickly at lv 7 and onwards.

Enrage is Ursa's ultimate, an active buff that gives Ursa additional damage according to his current HP. This has no manacost and no casting animation, which means that you should use this spell whenever possible after level 6 to quicken your farm rate. This spell has an additional pro to it, and it is that because ursa is such a strange hero for an agility carry as he does not build agility items or attack speed items, this skill means that ursa can build strength/tank items and still be powerful in teamfights auto-attack wise.

Items

Ursa is a partially-item dependent carry, as he needs his core items to be able to have any influence in the game, but he doesn't need too many items to be able to shut the enemy team down.

Ursa's core items are Phase Boots for the mobility, Vladimir's offering for the jungling power and Roshaning power, and Blink Dagger for instant un-evadable initation. It is a MUST-DO requirement that Ursa gets these 3 items, otherwise he will never be able to catch up to his enemies unless his teammates throw all the CC for him.

After these core items, Black King Bar, Skull Basher allows him to fight without getting shut down, and allows him to bash the enemy hero to death. and then you can get whatever you want because fuzzy wuzzy doesnt give a single ****.

Play Style

Early Game


Ursa needs to farm as fast as possible in this early game. Kill the easy camp at :30, and if youre not able to kill it by :52, pull it and then kill it with the stack. you need to kill the easy camp twice if you want to get off to a good start. After finishing up your tangoes, Buy a Ring of Protection and another set of tangoes and keep jungling. Buy your Phase Boots asap, gank the safelane once or twice after your teammates throw their CC, then finish up your Vlad's. Now comes the fun part.

Early-Mid Game


Type this "****ERS PUSH ALL LANES I NEED SPACE" in team chat.
Afterwards, go to Roshan pit, Overpower, and after about 5 seconds, enter the pit and beat up roshan with your claws. Definitely cast Enrage, and Overpower again, until you kill Roshan. Take Aegis, and push a lane. Face an enemy? Earthshock and Overpower until dead, repeat. Farm your Blink Dagger asap, because you can't snowball without it. Gank continuously at this point, and farm in between the times where the enemy are in ungankable positions. After Blink Dagger, be smart and flank the enemy and go to town on them. Snowball repeatedly.
Buy a Black King Bar to be unstoppable, and if youre stomping buy a Skull Basher if youre doing ok(dying every now and then) get a halberd.

Late Game


You should have full item slots by now. Buy a Heart of Tarrasque and drop your vlad's, give the AEGIS to someone else that can carry better than you. Try your best to melt supports before carries.

When is Ursa a good pick?

Ursa is a good pick when the enemy doesn't have many CCs or escape mechanisms.

Chapter Title

Fuzzy wuzzy is a special ganker-carry that can have a huge influence on the game if played correctly, but if your early game is hindered or slowed, you will have a very hard time getting back to the carrying position. Enjoy stomping, and thank you for reading.
