So the meta at 6.81 was about heroes like Death Prophet and Razor, after the recent nerf on Razor do you think he is still viable? And also the other changes have made my drafting recently become lackluster. What heroes do you think are the best in this patch? Like how Ember Spirit used to be the hottest pick ( huehue pun ). Seriously though I need help.
the deathball strat is still really popular, weaker but still really good and easy to execute, but there is a bit more lategame in the patch now with popular heroes like terrorblade, and heroes who are rising in popularity like spectre and medusa.
Razor and Skywrath Mage still are strong Heroes despite the nerfs, and I think they won't fall off until the next major patch.
And about the meta itself, seems like some late game Heroes like Phantom Assassin, Spectre and Morphling (I've seen Weaver and Medusa picks, too) are getting picked more often because of the changes to towers. Also, Radiance split pushers like Naga Siren and Terrorblade are always on the list: seeing them play 50 minutes into the game, they almost look broken.
Razor is still a very good mid in this meta. He doesn't have to have a Faceless Void on his team to succeed, and actually transitions pretty well into the lategame if itemized properly. However, in 6.82 you need a harder carry to fall back on since the games are going longer and there's more time for heroes to get fat.
I've been seeing a lot of Medusa and it's been pretty successful. Nobody really played her much until now, so it might just be that people don't know how to handle her, but the hero is really good right now. Spectre is another that has been great in this patch.
The biggest thing in this patch, I think, is that farming heroes are back. Naga Siren, Terrorblade, Medusa, etc, are going to be really popular. All about shutting down the other carry's farm early on so yours can come online earlier and win.
You see a lot of line-ups run 4 core line-ups as it were with something like a Mirana or a Wraith King to take advantage of the fact games a longer and thus heroes get more farm as a result.
There's also been a resurgance of greedy offlaners this patch, as heroes like Dark Seer and Timbersaw have more time to get items and come online as a result. (Personally I think that Timbersaw is one of the best heroes in the new patch, especially with his second Chakram potentially).
Essentially drafts just draft to expect more gold to come into them, because it probably will come in. So hardier carries, greedier offlanes and more gold intensive supports. Oh and push being incorporated into strats more to transition kills into towers more than to end to game very quickly. Since Towers are harder to get now and all.
6.82 (b if you want to be technical) is the age of the late game heroes. In some ways this new meta is good. For example, supports can no longer carry games and win in the first 20 minutes. In other ways, this is very, very bad. Certain early game heroes, including these same supports, are less viable now; a couple of kills can change the game; the throws are real. I don't think Death Prophet or Razor are any less viable. The push is awesome. The problem with any game now is what to do once you get into their base. They can quite realistically keep picking you off and turn the game around.
Ember Spirit is awesome, was awesome, and always will be awesome. Period. Watch NVIDIA Game 24 Alliance vs. Team Tinker Game 5. You'll see what I mean.
