I have not been having luck lately when it comes to Dota.

You NEVER have luck when it comes to Dota.

More so, though. Noticeably moreso. Over the last few days I have lost a grand total of SIX matches in a row. It was discouraging. Humbling. And the perfect reason to play another game of ranked!

I... what?

I'm a huge sucker for Gambler's fallacy, man. I made that clear in the last post. I was on a 'cold' streak, so it only makes sense that I had a win 'coming to me', you know? So I decided to lock myself in my room, slip into something comfortable, and play another match of that MMR calibration.

The sample MMRs for this match were 2665 on Radiant (us) and 2657 on Dire. I now fully understand that these are the MMRs of the people whose portraits the numbers are under, and not an average for the team, so I know better than to think that my 6 game un-ranked losing streak caused me to drop out of the 3k bracket I was in last time. I know better... but I couldn't help thinkin…

Okay, so I don't normally make blog posts and the like, or really socialize much on here but hey DOTAfire people are nice, so I thought I'd be a little more open than normal.

So I've been playing and following this wonderful game of ours for a little over a year now (How time flies), and it's been arguably the best gaming experience of my life.

Now due to time constraints from having to balance a life with DOTA, I don't play that much, and when I do play I usually use the same few supports, since I'm at the stage of pubs where good supports are impossible to come by, and where being the teams selfless ward *****, and actually having plenty of disables is enough to help win more games than I by-rights should. And it's effective, I play a few games a week, and usually win them, and have a good win-rate whilst doing so.

And yet recently... It's been less satisfying than normal. My hero pool is feeling stale, and my mechanics are feeling a little more subpar than normal as a result, bec…

Recently, I've played Rubick and I build Arcane Boots and Urn of Shadows and I see myself pretty mana hungry and I see pros build Soul Ring and Tranquil Boots. So, which is more viable for a support ? I don't want to copy that build until I learn the difference and it's a bit intriguing. This is a big thing for me 'coz I play support. Plss HELP sensei-sama!

Alright guys, it's armc3j, or exit, here. As you know, I'm not, in general, a big fan of people who complain that "the only reason I'm in 2k is because of my teammates," etc. I think that dota 2 is a team game, and should be played WITH, not WITHOUT, teammates. However, I have reconsidered that a bit.

First off, I still stand by the fact that dota 2 is very team based. You are thrown together with 4 other people, and you are expected to probably share a lane with at least one of them. If you can't cooperate, the other team gets an advantage, assuming they cooperate themselves. For instance, it's fine for me, as Magnus, to land a 5 man Reverse Polarity, but if my carry isn't cooperating with me, I'll feed and put RP on cool down. It's that simple.

However, your tea doesn't totally reflect your MMR. I played a Phantom Assassin game where I was the highest MMR, and this is what happened. This guy 1st picks Venomancer, and asks that someone pick a jungled so he can solo-offlane. Alre…

Lets talk about Breathe Fire.

1. It has a terrible name, on par with Slardar's skill names.

2. It gives him a nice nuke for farming in-lane and early fights.

3. It got a buff where it applies a damage reduction.

4. it..wait what?

YEAH. This baby now applies a 20% damage reduction at lvl 1, scaling to a 35% at lvl 4. Try last hitting when that debuff is on you! It's not gonna happen! This one addition to the skill turns Dragon Knight from a middling midlaner into a BEAST. Doesn't matter who it is, if you have a quelling blade and use breathe fire on them, you're gonna have last hits for days...or at least 8 seconds.

You thought Breathe Fire fell off a lot later in the game? Think again! Combined with your armor, if you use this on some pesky right clicker you're hardly even gonna feel them hitting you. Remember it's percentage based so the later the game goes, it remains just as relevant, unlike Enfeeble.

I mean this is a huuuuuge buff for my buddy DK, and it's not the only …

Hi everyone!

Chill here, just wanted to let everyone know that my team "Island in the Sun" is going to be at the International 5 Open Qualifiers in the US region. Just hoping that we could get some support for our team during our games and that we could get some more teams to scrim against as we want to be super ready when the Qualifiers begin!

I also hope that some people from the awesome DOTAFire community puts forward some teams and players to compete in this awesome opportunity to get some experience playing at a a higher level!

Thanks :D

6.84 is here!

I have like 5 blog posts I could do but here's the one I'm going(starting) with, here are some reflectionssnoitcelfer on 6.84 after playing some games.

So when the change-log came out I, like many others, was mindblown. The amazing OP new items, the big hero changes, weird new aghs, I thought this would make the game crazy.

However, as I should realize by now, the General Changes are what makes the biggest difference for every single game of dota that goes on. Suddenly I couldn't try to hard carry the game by farming for 20 minutes, I have to be ready for bloodshed super early in the game. Suddenly my 13 minute Battle Fury turns into a 15 minute Battle Fury simply because creeps aren't worth as much.

But most of all, you can't just throw leads around every team fight because of rubberband. The game can of course still shift, but I appreciate that one mistake is not punished so harshly now.

Now on to the OP items:

Glitter thingie-pretty good, manacost nerf makes it…

Enough stalling. The time to strap the big boy pants back on has come, ladies and gentlemen. My latest adventure into the abject horrors of solo ranked matchmaking is complete, and here I am but a poor, shaken vessel with a keyboard, typing things out if only to keep my sanity.

So you had a pizza burger for lunch?

No, actually, I had leftover frozen pizza and a Guinness. Why do you care?

Because last time... you said... never mind, just get on with it.

The first thing I noticed this time when queuing up was that one of the players are teammates had an MMR of 3170. Apparently, these random, come from behind victories are only serving to place me even MORE out of my league. Q freaking Q.

I was Radiant this time, and we picked first. Since I had an idea of who I wanted to play this time, I scrolled over and hovered over my hero. I waited for a bit for the time to dwindle down, and when nobody objected or selected a hero, I first-picked Undying.

Sweet, wonderful, gummy bear lov…
