Let's just Refer to him as Bristlegod for the moment. Heroes of Newerth also had issues balancing the hero for a very long time (Armadon).
Is it safe to assume we all concur that the Warpath rework made him a monster (overpowered a little)? Max stacks were 5 prior to 6.80 if I remember correctly, now they're 5/6/7, giving him insanely good dps, magic wand doesn't do much to counter him, and I never felt as if it did in Dota 2 considering by them time it's used, quill stacks and snot stacks are high enough, that his damage will just mow heroes down. Consider Warpath stacks on top of it, and his dps can potentially be unmanageable in the laning phase.
To alleviate this, wouldn't just lowering Warpath stacks to 4/5/6, than increasing the damage threshold to Bristlebacka bit more balanced, or would it impact him too much in a negative way?
I'd like to hear honest opinions, as I feel (not solely) that he feels a bit too strong early.

There are obvious counters still, but his damage alone can overcome them at different stages of the game.
Slardar with his armor debuff, and bash does well against Rigwarl (once he rings lvl6)
Lockdown heroes like Bane, Lion, and Shadow Shaman can keep him under control to an extent.
Timbersaw spits out so much pure damage that he essentially ignores Bristleback, combine stat reduction from Whirling Death as well, and he can effectively beat Bristlegod bad enough early on, he can make him a non factor for a good deal of the game
Clockwerk can shut down his spam in lane as well with aggressive Power Cogs draining his mana.
Negative armor generally is the best route but is there anything else that can really keep him down?
Step 1: Pick Bristleback
Step 2: type in all chat:"GL hf"
Step 3: solo offlane
Step 4: first blood triple kill solo vs trilane
Step 5: continue head butting keyboard
Step 6: don't care, Bristleback doesn't give a ****
Step 7: screenshot repeated: BB OP comments in all chat
Step 8: alternate games with Slark pick

One of the more annoying heros to go against. He wrecks any weak lane and requires a strong supports to shut him down. A fed mid game bristle is just one giant pain in the ***. Honestly, if you shut him down early, its really easy to kill him mid game. Bristle has a bad str growth so he needs health and tankability items. A vangaurd + something normalyl is when he is the strongest.

He's only really really strong with a good start, in which case, just don't lane against him 1v1 with a squishy hero that has no way to kite/escape. Magic wand DOES counter him hard, at least during the laning phase, getting a magic stick is pretty much needed if you want to be able to win the lane. Otherwise just duo-lane against him with heroes that can destroy him early. He needs a good start to do well. He got nerfed pretty hard I feel in 6.8, I feel like he's easy to deal with now.

Edit: Also ignore him in teamfights, always save him for last otherwise you're just wasting time. Maybe stun him or something but don't focus your DPS on him unless you have to.

He's strong against trilanes built for kills in lane, which are very common in pubs right now. I still value Timbersaw/ Clockwerk above him.

The way I see it you can either a) pick a very strong lane and shut him down, or b) run aggro tri and send an offlaner to 1v1 him. I usually opt for the latter, most offlaners can easily contest his lane.

After the laning phase he's not much of a factor provided you didn't feed him. Don't target BB himself, and if you're going to fight look for quick kills on his allies. Drawn-out teamfights should be avoided.

His weaknesses (and they are quite glaring) are lack of mobility, lack of interrupt (carry TP scroll) and only having physical damage ( Ghost Scepter).

I must say, in the last two Bristleback matches I played I felt really useless without a Vanguard. Particularly, I was seriously underlevelled in the last one (my friends decided to let me lane with a guy who was playing Sven for some reason, and I mostly did support stuff like pulling and harassing) but, after I got my core, I became the highest GPM and EPM in my team until at least 5 minutes before ending the game (when Sven got more gold and experience by fountain camping).

Long story short, if you stop him before he gets a Vanguard you're fine; if you can't just get pure damage ( Timbersaw) or a Doom. If you are your team's hard carry you can just ignore him until you kill all the other Heroes.

Another problem comes when he gets auras like Shiva's or Cuirass and items like the Halberd, so you have to be very cautious by that point.

Bristle is one of those heroes who have a large enough advantage from the start to get easily fed & overpowered in later stages of the game. I think with enough tactics & coördinated attacks you can take him down, and neutralize him for the rest of the game.

I personally haven't had much issues with Bristleback.

He is fine as he is for me. Yeah I know his a pain in the ***. But a Viper or Timbersaw can solve the problem.
