No, everything about abandons should stay the way it is now and abandons should not incur additional mmr penalty.

There are tons of ways to ruin the game harder than with abandoning, and sometimes it helps you win.

Dimony be a little nicer. You need to learn how to be social, and not sound like an ***, even if you're right.

This conversation really went from 0 to 100 in a few posts lol. Please rein in guys and keep it civil.

As for the topic; it's really hard to fix these problems. If someone leaves and the rest of the team gets no penalty despite losing, you could just abuse the system (take one for the team -setup). If only players that are in the same group as the leaver get a punishment, no one really wants to play with new people and only play with those that they have known for a long time. And what if someone crashes and all of their friends get big punishments just for that?

The way I see this is that it's only one game that you might end up losing. Basically, if you aren't a leaver, you have a smaller chance of getting a leaver in your team (4 players instead of 5 players that could potentially leave). Just suck it up and go for another game, since one game doesn't really affect you that much.

Having one team gain MMR but the enemy team not lose MMR is not viable. It creates MMR inflation, which completely screws up the system.

So yeah maybe Dimony is being a ****, but he's right.

4v5 is completely winnable. I've won quite a bunch of them. I even remember winning a 3v5.

If someone leaves, your team gets all his gold, including his base GPM. So as long as you still have carries or semicarries, they'll be pretty fed. A leaver is a thousand times better than a feeder.

One thing Valve could do to deal with carry players leaving is allow support players to take control of their hero instead of forcing the carry to sell their items after 5 minutes of inactivity. Like if you're playing support, you should be able to switch your hero for the Anti-Mage that just left and play a winnable 4v5.

Hey everyone,

It's great to see people initiating discussions and sharing their own opinions and views, but please try to be nice and polite to everyone even if you don't agree with their arguments. Everyone is free and encouraged to share their own thoughts. :)

Dimonychan, I would greatly appreciate if you could find a nicer way to express your own opinions, even if you're right or wrong.

Masked_Man98, please try to not call people names, we are a friendly community after all and a discussion cannot properly develop without politeness.

And my opinion about the topic, I've also lost a lot of MMR due to people disconnecting, trolling, abandoning and so on, it depends on how lucky you are when getting matched with people. I'm not sure what system would fix this issue, this will always happen no matter how harsh the punishments for them will be. I guess if you cannot deal with all of this, your only option is playing with trustable friends for now, at least until Valve finds a better solution.
